I Look Good in Everything I Eat

This is a family trait, one that I have happily admitted to time and time again on this exchange as I have spilled everything from pasta to goulash down the front of me. But today I put this statement to the test.

I went out this afternoon for coffee with Finnish M and I should have known that trouble was coming then. Because I was doing laundry today I was wearing some of my last resort clothing, namely my white jacket and some light coloured pants and a light coloured shirt (You see where this is going…) Well anyway, as it has been in the 20`s all week we decided that coffee maybe wasn’t our best bet, we should go for gelato. They have gelato places on every corner here in Graz. I ordered a lovely green Kiwi flavoured one. Much to my relief not a single drop fell on me! (Had you going there, didn’t I J) Then we wandered around the city center for a while, enjoying the sun. Then we went for Kebaps, some of my most favourite food here. Made it all the way through that too. I was on a roll.

Then came tea at M’s house. Clearly I had been tempting the fates a little too much the whole day, because I was halfway through my second cup, when I spilled about half of my glass down me. Needless to say it was a funny end to a rather awesome day.
A now dry,

Tiny

International Video Contest

Hey everyone,

Recently I submitted a video to my Study Abroad department at my school, it is to suppor the program and show all of the cool things that you can do while abroad. It does a pretty good job of showing what life out here is like, and all of the fun times that we have. If you want to check it out, here's the link and I hope that you enjoy!

PS The names of the songs are in the description, but the first one is in German, so don't freak out if you dont understand it! :P

Ich habe eine Allergie

I know it’s true, depressingly I have an allergy, but what is hilarious about it was my German course. I’m not sure if I mentioned this but I have the same German teacher that I had before, to give you a taste follow this link, http://tinyandteddyseetheworld.blogspot.com/2011/09/ich-habe-einen-kopweh.html

Anyway as today is the first day of spring, my teacher thought it would be a good idea to discuss what spring means to us. We of course all talked about birds and flowers when we were in our little groups, but when it came time to say something out loud no one talked. Of course when silence fell over the crowd I had to sneeze. My teacher pounced on it and said, “Exactly, sneezing!! And why is sneezing part of spring? Well because of Allergies, and Tiny has Allergies.”* And proceed to write this on the board and then continued with the rest of the lesson. Needless to say no one felt that they could be more embarrassed than I was, so people started answering, but it was hilarious!

An Allergic,
Tiny

*This is a translation, what she said was in German

PS Thank you Grandma, the card is awesome, and thank you Grandma and Grandpa, I loved the letter and pictures!

PSS 12 more sleeps!! Woot woot!!!!

St Patrick's Day Potluck

Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day, and it was pretty awesome. Spent the morning doing pretty much nothing, just reading and listening to music. Then in the evening we had a ton of people over for a potluck. You know us and having parties with food! It was pretty much an awesome evening. We ate chatted played really cool word games and charades. Apparently my brain is just really strangely hardwired for guessing what people are saying through acting. We had a mix of new and old friends and it was nice to have everyone together.  P even made a green soup in honour of the occasion. Lots of fun. M has all of the pictures though, and as soon as I can steal the camera I will upload a few so you can see. The rest of the week was pretty much normal, classes and homework and stuff going on. I’m taking a Canadian Cultures course which is fairly awesome, except I hope that some of them will be in English, cause I’m not sure if I can write the exam if they are all in German! J It’s now time to clean up a little and use the lovely dishwasher that we have in our apartment!

Talk to you soon,

Tiny

Spring

Ok, so it's time for an update. Today is awesome, not least because it is a season that I dont think we really have back home, Spring. The sun is out and the breeze is blowing, and it's not too warm or too cold. It makes the trek back and forth to school really nice and I can sit in my windowsill and do some thinking and writing. This week is the start of linguisitics classes so I am now in the full swing of things. It's great because I have been a little bit stir crazy lately and needed some sort of a rythm to fall into. There hasn't been all that much going on compared to February, but if every month was like that I'd never get any sleep, so it's nice to relax and enjoy Graz while I am here. I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of my classes are like, and meeting all of the people in them. It is really awesome showing up to class and knowing people that are in it!

Wishing this weather to everyone,

Tiny

Skiing again!

On Saturday we went skiing, which was totally awesome! (Especially after my parents sent me my helmet and ski pants!!) The weather was amazing, the snow was pretty good, until the end of the day when a lot of it was scraped off and there was ice, but hey it was only one run. I had such a great time with M and N and P, and you would never believe that the timid little blue diamond skier from home was doing black runs, IN THE ALPS!!! (Sorry I still cant get over that that is where we go skiing here) We were at a place 2 hours out of Graz, so a huge thanks to P who drove us all the way there and back, but it does make it really nice when you have your own car. And it was also awesome that N asked for the student price (although I think the lady thought we were nuts with all the different ID cards that we showed her)
Overall it was an amazing day, but now I need to roll out the yoga mat and do some stretching!

Happy Days,
Tiny

In the gondola on the way up!

This was the view from the top, it was breathtaking! (Oh and that is P) :P

N and I agreed this was funny, because it looks like
summer in the background, and I am all dressed for skiing!

M at the Top!

N thinking about going off trail. (There was
no snow there, so it was an easy decision)

New Semester

The semester here has finally started. I've only got two classes this week, but by next week I will be in the swing of things. It is exciting as I am looking forward to all of my classes, as well as a long weekend (I planned my courses that way). I'm doing something new this semester, after the ridiculous amount of papers I was doing last semester I am trying to do mostly exams this semester. Should be interesting! Not too much else has been going on. Still trying to get back into a routine now that February is over and we have to go back to classes. Also getting back to cooking is a bit of a challenge, just because we pretty much started from scratch again after our rather long break. But otherwise things are going great, and the sun is shining which, as N says, makes everything better right off the bat. I think I may go and enjoy the sun with a little walk to the Uni, where I also need to get some books for my German class.

Cheers,
Tiny

PS Teddy says he is glad that he can lounge in the sun all day while I go to and from classes!
PSS The count down has begun!!!
