Eurovision and Toast

Would it be a blog post without food? Well last night we went to M’s house to watch Eurovision. For those of you that don’t know what that is, think Canadian Idol on a Europe level.  We got to watch the contest, and make some delicious toast. (no I don’t mean bread that has been put into a toaster, it means kind of like a super awesome cheesy melted piece of bread with deliciousness on it!)The contest was amazing, and there were lots of good acts. Some were really funny, and some were absolutely beautiful. If you plan on watching it don’t read the next sentence. The girl from Sweden won the contest, and she was pretty good, we all liked her.  It was a late night, but still so much fun!! It was cool especially hearing people sing in different languages.

Now time to work on my paper! :P

These were all of the ingredients that
we had to put on our toast! They were
beyond tasty!!

Waiting to hear the results. They went
through each countries votes individually.
This was when we were at 12 of 42.

Me, M and R(from the states) enjoying the show. PS I can't
take credit for any of these. M(roommate) took these ones!

A Day out with P

So the other day I was told by P that we needed to have an outing just the two of us, since M and E were also doing an outing. He proceeded to tell me little snipets of what was going on the whole weekend without actually telling what exactly we were going to be doing. So yesterday, we met up, walked to the train station, did charades on the train (courtesy of E and M), and got off at a cave twenty minutes north of Graz! It was absolutely amazing. The tour was all in German and I understood a ton of it.  There was one part where a man had carved two hands out of the stones and hoped that one day they would grow together. (he didn't listen to the lesson on how when you touch the stones the oil in your hands stops them from growing) It was a great day, and we even got to see a bat inside the cave! It has been wet ever since so I haven’t been outside too much, but it has been fun. Now unfortunately it is back down to work. :P
P shuffling the charades card.

The name of the cave, Lurgrotte!

P at the entrance to the cave

The entrance, the whole in the  top right is where the bats
could go in and out. And they had lots of owls around the place!

Cheers,

Long weekend of Awesomeness

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven’t been too full of updates lately, but my life has been pretty school filled, and I don’t think that people want to hear about how often I avoid doing my work. :P Anyway, more to the point of this post, we have a long weekend this weekend, and it has been completely awesome!

Wednesday E&P&M and I had a movie night, because none of us had any school the next day, and we ate all healthy food for snacks (which I think we determined was the first time that we had had a movie night without gummy bears! :P)

On Thursday N and I decided to go for a bike ride. It wasn’t going to be that long and we were going to just go until we got tired. Well….. Our ‘short’ ride ended up being 40km round trip, it was so awesome though! Gelato was never more deserved than after that ride! We got to see some beautiful country side, plus a lot of the city that I don’t usually see.  So much fun!!

The Friday E & P and I went to and Indian restaurant for lunch, it was really tasty, I haven’t had Indian food in forever. Then, like good students, we had a study session, in which we actually both got work done (shocking, considering how much I have been avoiding it!) And of course by the end of the study session it was time for a movie night! Lol.

Who knows what today will hold, but so far it has been a really really awesome long weekend!
I have no idea why I look like that, but it
was the only one that wasn't blurry cause the
lighting inside was really weird. But it was soo
tasty!

The food! That's my watch in the top, and P's blurry hand in
the bottom middle!

Happy May Long to everyone back home too!

Late Nights and Sunshine

This is just another little update, not too special. I've been going to classes and meeting up with friends, but the cool thing is that it is all just relaxed talking and tea drinking/suppers (and yes sometimes the tea is being replaced by a radler or two) but it has led to some late nights. So it's nice that I can sleep in on Fridays! Anyway, we also have a lot of sunshine, the girl who never tans actually has a tan!!! It's not that dark, but if I keep sitting outside everyday it should be pretty epic for when I get back!

Otherwise I am doing a very very good job of ignoring the paper that I need to get written (it's not due till July, so I am not all that worried about it). It's just too nice outside not to ignore homework, and it's also good to get to sit in my windowsill!

Anyway I feel as though I haven't posted many pictures lately, so these are just some pics from the last two weeks or so! Enjoy!

Although we do always seem to have food it isn't always
unhealthy. Finnish M and I made this Spinach/Feta/Tomato
roll thingy, so tasty!!! (I think that was like 2 weeks ago, lol)

Gelato has been a lot of peoples saving grace, it is ridiculous.
I'm not sure how P was able to wear the sweater!

More Gelato with E!

This was at the Wise Guys Concert (I blogged about it in the
May 2nd post)

More Wise Guys (ps, it was apple juice I swear)

We had a movie night the other day and P went a little
overboard with the food, but these deepfried mushrooms were
delicious!!!

See what I mean by overboard (this was a
yougurt/berry sauce/granola dessert) And yes
I will be getting recepies for a lot of the food
that we eat here!

Planning M's scavenger hunt!
Hope you like all the pictures, I promise I'll keep you updated if there is anything else going on!

Happy Birthday Scavenger Hunt

In typical ‘you never know what is going to happen here’ style yesterday was a surprise Birthday Scavenger hunt for my dear roommate! It was awesome because she totally wasn’t expecting anything, so it made it really epic getting to see how excited she was! We made her record everything, with pictures and video, so I’ll be posting some of them along with this post, so it may take a while when you read it! Anyway…

First off, we made her go to a pen store because she is really into calligraphy, and as her birthday gift, we all chipped in for a pen!

Then we made her head to one of our favourite cafés and guess which coffee A was drinking.

Then to the Stadtpark, where we made her kiss the statue of one of the guys that she studied last year.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a scavenger hunt of Graz, if we didn’t do something with food, so onto gelato, but we had a midway stop for a crepe, because lunch had been skipped by some of our group.  I'm not posting any videos of this one because it is taking so long for these to load, and the really good one is like 1min long so I am just going to skip it! Sorry.

Then the gummy bear shop.

And finally the Schlossberg. She's singing a German song about a well while sitting next to the Turkish Well.  (also I am sorry some of these are sideways, but the edited ones weren't uploading properly, so you'll just have to turn your head :P)

At each station she met one of us and we all started to travel together. It was a ton of fun, both planning and doing. Now today we’re having a pancake supper, so I need to get things all organized for that.

Happy weekend!

May 2nd

Hey everyone.
I haven't posted a 'regular day' post in a while so here is a quick update. It is hot here, we are talking like 25+ everyday for the last week. Naturally I finally found a skirt that both goes with everything that I own, and I can bike in a the temerature is supposed to go down, but I love it and it flares out when I spin, so I dont really care. The weather is however making feel like it is summer, so I have been ever so slightly acting like it is summer and not necessarily doing all of the homework that I should be doing, but hey, I've got time. :P Anyway, I have been listening to a lot of new songs during this time (did I mention that I had a long weekend last week, let's just say there was gelato, movies, and more tea than should ever be drank (drunk?) in this weather, and a severe amount of skin reddening!) And I though I should share two of them with you, to get everyone else in the summer vibe!

Oh we also went to a concert last night by a German group called The Wise Guys. OMG if you know any German at all, or you just like listening to great music, look them up. They are kind of like the German Arrogant Worms. I was glad E and P were there because they were able to trnaslate some of the more complicated songs! I cant tell you which is my favourite, but if you watch the CISSA video I made, the first song is by them, look them up, seriously!! (Also I will post pics soon, but my camera is currently in E's bag, because I didn't bring my purse! :P)

I'm gonna go finish making supper now! Hope you enjoy these summer songs!!
