The Castle Eggenberg

So today we went to this place called the Eggenberg Castle. Teddy has been staying at the hotel, he says that it is too hot and he is too jet lagged to come on these adventures yet, so I don't have any pictures of him. Anyway this castle was built by the Eggenberg family started back in 1625. Now this dude Eggenberg was a real smarty pants, he was like the head honcho of Inner Austria which is like 6 countries now a days. He built his summer home here in Graz and he wanted to show his intelligence. So almost everything in the building has some sort of crazy second meaning. Like the third floor, we toured this one, it had twenty-four rooms, twelve with light coloured doors and twelve dark coloured doors to show the hours in a day. Between these twenty-four rooms there were sixty windows. Then in one of the rooms there were seven paintings, one for each day, and the next one had twelve paintings one for each month. The paintings were fabulous and the architecture was incredible but the funny part of the whole day was that we decided that we would go to the Medieval Art Gallery.
It was on the second floor of the castle and you almost missed the door, if you weren't paying attention. Anyway, we first walked into this gallery and there was a single medieval door. We thought, "Hey it's medieval not much would have survived". When the lady came to check our tickets, though, she came from another room and we went in there. Twenty-five rooms of artwork that we had no clue what we were looking at cause it was all in German, and we made it out. None of us thought it would be that long. After that the rest of the castle was pretty basic, a garden (based on the Roman gods) and a coin collection. The walk to the castle and the tour and all of the paintings took up most of our day. I had a quick nap while the other girls went shopping. Then supper and an early home time (we're waiting for a movie to load now).  This keeping a blog is hard. I may not put something everyday, though I bet as I get into school and stuff we wont be doing fun stuff all the time. Hopefully Teddy comes out of hiding soon and I'll get some pics with him.  Keep you posted.
