Inspiring Thoughts

Back in September I started off a post-it-note mural, with inspirational, funny or things that happened to me quotes. And I can now say that is it finished! I’m happy, cause it looks really really cool, but I’m also a little sad, I’m not sure where I’ll put the new quotes. (Maybe on M’s wall, which is still pretty much blank :P <3) So now I get to show everyone what it has morphed into! (Surprisingly I got this idea from M’s boyfriend, who I don’t think even knew what would happen when he said it, lol)

Also today has been amazing! I’ve got the kitchen pretty clean, grocery shopping done, and I went to the Apotheke to get some medication for a sinus cold, and got everything explained and asked for in German! Take that German skills. :P (They don’t have grocery store pharmacies here so you have to go in and ask for stuff, even if it is just ‘over the counter’)

So now for the big reveal!!

Be Inspired!

3 Down 1 to Go

As you all know I’ve been working on these papers for quite a while now, and I am proud to announce that they are almost completed!!! I have now officially finished writing 3 out of 4!!! J J J Yes I do still need to type up the third on and make it pretty, but it is such a load off of my chest that I am totally excited!! This means that I only have 15 more pages to write this semester and then it will be finished!!! (well yes I know that I still have exams, but those can be studied for).
In other news one of the most awesome things ever has occurred. We bought a tea ball!!!!! Although this may seem anticlimactic to many people what is means is that I can drink the tea that M, A & N gave us for Christmas, and this means that I have been slowly drinking my way through some of the best tea I have had in ages!
Yes I know this is a random post, and that when I reread it in like a month I will be thinking “what was I thinking” but as my dearest mother says, my blog is not “The Great Canadian Novel” but instead is more of a stream of consciousness, which is how I write anyway. Blame it on the incredible sense of relief I am feeling right now. I’d better stop now before I go over my word limit!
Cheers,
Tiny
PS SOOO excited for February!
Oh and in other news this is my dear roommate M trying
(but not succeeding) in opening a package!

The best part, it was a package she was sending home,
but she had closed to box to see if she could fit, the last
few things in. (She could, but it requred the reopening of the box)
Some strategic ripping later and it was opened.
20 minutes of pure enjoyment!

But to the point of this post, Teddy also likes
a good cuppa in the morning!

See the pretty tea ball!!

Sunday Dinner

I haven't updated in a while, so here is a small one. We had some people over for supper tonight, nothing too special, just a little get together. We made it a potluck so that it wasn't too stressful for anyone, and it turned out amazing! We had great appetizers (cheese, salsa, chips and crackers) then supper (curry, rice and a really cool pasta dish) then dessert you can't forget dessert. (Fondue, fruit and Finnish cake) The conversations were amazing, and I think everyone had a good time. I am so happy that we have a dish washer, it makes the clean up so much better, and also then we dont have all of the plates to throw out!

We're also having nice weather, so that I was able to sit on the window sill for a while today, which is a lot of fun.

Hope everyone else had a really nice and relaxing Sunday too,

Tiny

3 Words: Pride and Prejudice!

After a not so awesome day on Wednesday today has been a massive improvement just because I opened one of my homesick hearts and it had three words in it. You guessed it “Pride and Prejudice” !!! For those of you that don’t know me I have had a crush on Colin Firth (especially the lake) scene since I was like 12, so this is of course the perfect way to de stress after my last presentation (which went really well BTW).  Tomorrow I will get back to my normal life of slight (cough cough) stress, and buying groceries and cleaning the apartment etc. etc. But tonight I am falling in love with Mr. Darcy all over again!

Pride & Prejudice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Challenge

Alrighty Ladies and Gents,

I am issuing a challenge. Since I am keeping everyone updated about my life through various methods, my challenge to you is to write me and Teddy a letter telling us anything about what is going on in your lives, I'm as interested about all of you as you are of me, and yes I have been getting some, but mail is always fun to get more.
A few small guidlines for my challenge, 1) It must be longer than 3 lines long. 2) Pictures are welcome! (more than welcome actually) and 3) it must be a letter, even if it is typed up, cause they are way more fun to receive.
If you need my address send me an email (I will NOT be posting anywhere near this blog). First letter to get here (non air mail) wins a prize and the most creative letter also wins a prize!

Start writing,
Tiny
So far this is one of the two pics
I have received (the other was
an actual pictue in a letter so
I cant post it here, but it is stuck
to my wall!)

Sittin in my Window

Yes I actually am sitting in my window, but it is a beautiful day and I want to enjoy the sun and the fresh air, but I don’t have a balcony, and don’t feel like putting on all of my winter clothes to go for a walk. I know it’s lazy, but we did just clean the whole house and I finished my last presentation of the semester! Not too much more, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I don’t know why I don’t sit here more often it is really quite comfortable and nice to feel the sun and breathe in the fresh air!

That’s my update for today, as my friend P just skyped, I seem to be having a “happy” day to day, and I am, so I thought, since lots of my blog post happen when I’m not so happy, that I should let this one be a happy one.

Tiny
This one was taken in the
summer, I am sitting in
a different window today, but you get
the idea!

Decorating the Bathroom

Bear with me on this one, I promise it will make sense!

Today when my dearest roommate left for school I woke up had a shower and then promptly fell back into bed and slept for another hour.  With the new rejuvenation (and a chocolate cinnamon roll that M brought me) I was ready to face what was left of the day! For a while now I have been thinking that I need to clean the bathroom, but with my papers I was thinking that I really didn’t have time (the fact that I could have done it as one of the activities while I was avoiding my papers is null and voided in this situation :P) Anyway, with my newfound energy, I decided to clean the kitchen (with help) and the Bathroom. It is now luckily all sparkly and shiny!! But wait, how is that decorating the bathroom? Easy, after the cleaning I thought that I should do some homework, having got an extension (not personally, the whole class did) on one of my papers I did not want to work on that. Lucky me though, I have  a German test next Tuesday so I figured I would write out a couple study sheets! My prof last semester told us that you should write out the things you need to remember and post them on the bathroom wall, and thus I decorated my bathroom with German Study sheets.
Now I am getting an English grammar lesson from my Austrian friend. Oh the joys of studying abroad!

Cheers,

Tiny
See the lovely papers!

This just proves it is in the bathroom!

I'm very happy about the nice,
clean white toilet!

This was on the wall of a friends
bathroom, and I couldn't
help but think about it when writing
this post! Ah MacGyver!

She Who Procrastinates

This should be my new nickname, as I seem to have the amazing ability to just do nothing instead of working. It wouldn't be so bad if I was doing other stuff, ex. cleaning the kitchen, but my mind refuses to let me do that sort of thing for some reason. Oh well, it will all get done in the end, as my Auntie B says "Everything is ok in the end, if it's not ok, it's not the end!" (in other words this musn't be the end) Here's hoping that this will be the jump start that I need to get back to work!

Anyway, life is getting back to normal and school starts again today, I have my first class this afternoon, and I know that if I work hard I’ll get everything done. It is the sitting down and working hard that is killing me! :P Oh well, I’ve now spent enough time procrastinating on this, so let’s see now what I get done today.

Tiny

PS I meant to post this picture before now, but I kept forgetting!
PSS After typing this up I did actually get some work done! (4 of 10 pages finished, I love it when your outline takes up so much space!!!)

Yes I did take a bite before I took the picture,
but it was soooo yummy! A chocolate
Christmas card!!

Skiing in the Alps? No Biggie!

I mentioned earlier that I love my friends here cause they send me Skype messages that say “we have a car, you in?” And two days later M & A from Finland and I are literally skiing in the Alps!!!!! J It was totally amazing, we were in the place called Schladming, which has 5 mountains that you can go to all really close and also you can get there while you are skiing.  So we spent three days on the slopes. The light was a little flat for the first two days, but it was snowing so there was fresh powder everywhere and it was completely amazing. The third day was probably the best, even though we were all sore, because we found this place that was literally called ‘Paradise’ which I think was an accurate description!! We got soooo much skiing in.

We also stayed in the most wonderful little place just outside of Schladming with this wonderful lady who was always excited and happy to see us and she made us some of the best breakfast! We also went to this one restaurant and we got the ‘Haus’ specialty which was enough food to feed an army, but we managed with a bottle of wine! Over all it was a completely amazing trip and I am soo glad that you can do that sort of thing here in Graz!

Now I’m going to bed, hopefully I can walk in the morning!

Tiny!
The Ever Amazing Driver M!!!

I was excited, can you tell?

We were tired, and the bed was really comfortable!

Ski champions all ready to go!

The Owner of the second place we were
in knew who was in charge!

See I told you they told us we were "Skiing in Paradise"!

And now you can see why!!

On the Road Again

Now that I have conquered the paper of doom, written the outline for the next one and came up with a topic for the third, I am on the road again. I love it when you are sitting trying to write papers and your friends skype you, “we have a car, you in?” And the next thing you know, you are on the road again.

I promise I will put up pretty pictures of snow, and of me, trying to ski, and then me failing to ski (not really, I’m not that bad, it’s just the first time out is always a little scary). So be warned that I may not be blogging too much in the upcoming days!

Can’t wait to hit the slopes!!

Tiny

Also thanks Gma for this comic (she sent it to me forever ago, but I feel like everyone should get a chance to see it!)

First post of the New Year

It’s sunny here, which is really nice, it is keeping my mood neutral as I am trying yet again to take a chunk out of these papers (The sun is making me happy, while the papers are driving me nuts) . It doesn’t seem to matter how much I get done there is always more that needs to be written, more research to do and another topic to think about. (Can you tell that my paper writing skills are not necessarily something that people know me for?) J But as I said it is sunny here and the day is shaping to be a pretty good one.

Last night we had a great time there were tons and tons of fireworks, they were selling them at the grocery stores all over town, so we had fireworks all through the night! Then the ones at the Schlossburg were gorgeous! We had people over, and as always there was food, too much food, but hey leftovers are delicious for breakfast! It was also nice to just hang out with people and not worry about anything.
Ah well, I’m going to load the video I made, showing the view of fireworks that we had (the Viennese Waltz is playing in the background cause it is tradition), and then I will get back to work on my paper(s)!

Can I claim finger cramping as a way to get an extension??? (Maybe information overload?) :P
