Ribs for supper?

Not too much has been going on here, it is freezing and snowy, not two of my most favourite things in the world, but we’ve been surviving. Mostly by writing papers and what not, I can’t wait to had them all in on Tuesday and be done with them.

The thing that is the best is that, as we’ve now been here for over half of our stay (that always makes me think, where did the time go?) we’ve decided to get a little more adventurous with our cooking, (the fact that we found a SPAR like the grocery stores back home also helps) so I made ribs last night.  I feel like the recipe needs to be shared, cause they were really really tasty!

Ribs
Take ribs, and boil them in my special mixture until meat is tender:
·         About a cup of scharfkase tomato sauce (any Italian tomato sauce should work)
·         An Austrian pinch of salt
·         A couple dashes of Chili powder
·         A couple dashes of curry powder
·         An “Oh no I forgot that the pepper comes out of the jar faster than chili powder and curry powder, so that is a whole lot of pepper” of black pepper
·         An “I should put in a cup of OJ, is that a cup, might as well put in more just to be sure” of orange juice
·         And then water to cover the ribs (oh and as an afterthought, maybe some soy sauce)

Once tender take out of mixture, add another splash of the tomato sauce and reduce until it’s like a BBQ sauce. Cover ribs in sauce and cook in “not quite an oven or a microwave” for 3 minutes on one side, and 2 ½ minutes on the other.
Trust me they are delicious!

Bon Appetite (or as they say here Mahlzeit),
Tiny
